Automakers partner with Apple for in-car entertainment system, CarPlay

Leading automakers have announced a partnership with Apple Inc. that will put an iPhone-integrated dashboard into many vehicles being released in 2014 and beyond. The new technology, dubbed CarPlay, syncs the dashboard of your car to your iPhone allowing you to access your music, messages, phone, maps and more from an iOS 7-style interface, as well as through voice commands using Siri.

The first automakers signed up for 2014 are:

  • Ferrari
  • Hyundai
  • Honda
  • Jaguar
  • Mercedes-Benz
  • Volvo

And other automakers committed to producing CarPlay enabled vehicles in the future are:

  • BMW
  • Chevrolet
  • Ford
  • Kia
  • Land Rover

  • Peugeot
